Overview

As the Software Engineer II for Scout Motors’ digital products on the Servicing & Repairs team, you will contribute to the development and enhancement of software solutions that power key areas of the business. This includes a suite of internal applications such as technician tools, diagnostics, repair systems, warranty and claims processing, vehicle health monitoring, parts management, workshop and service operations, roadside assistance, mobile service, and customer communication platforms.

You will work with software engineers and cross-functional partners to build scalable, reliable, and customer-focused solutions. This role offers opportunities to expand your technical skills while contributing to products that have a meaningful impact on Scout Motors’ customers, technicians, and business operations.


What you’ll do

Become part of an iconic brand that is set to revolutionize the electric pick-up truck & rugged SUV marketplace by achieving the following:

•    Collaborate with cross-functional teams to design, develop, test, and deliver new features and enhancements
•    Develop and maintain software components across front-end and back-end systems
•    Troubleshoot, debug, and resolve issues across front-end and back-end systems
•    Contribute to application reliability, performance, security, and scalability efforts
•    Participate in code reviews and incorporate feedback to continuously improve code quality
•    Support testing, deployment, and monitoring activities across the software development lifecycle
•    Participate in sprint planning, estimation, and other Agile development activities
•    Stay current with emerging technologies and industry trends to continually improve engineering 

 

Location & Travel Expectations:

  • This role will be based out of the Scout Motors location in Fremont, California. 
  • This role requires occasional in the office, with regular in-person meetings and events. 
  • Applicants should expect that the role will require the ability to convene with Scout colleagues in person and travel to participate in events on behalf of the company from time to time.
  • Domestic travel is required. A valid driver's license required.

  • Education/Certifications: A Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related technical field
  • Years of Experience: 3+ years of experience as a Software Engineer, Full Stack Engineer, or similar role
  • Communication: Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to clearly articulate technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, collaborative environment, both independently and as part of a team
  • Strong foundation in modern front-end development using JavaScript, TypeScript, React, Angular, or Vue.js
  • Experience developing backend services using Go, Java, Node.js, Python, Ruby on Rails, or similar technologies
  • Familiarity with building and maintaining APIs and services in distributed environments
  • Working knowledge of databases (MySQL, PostgreSQL, MongoDB, and/or Redis)
  • Familiarity with identity and access management (IAM) concepts and single sign-on (SSO) platforms such as Microsoft Entra ID (Azure AD), Okta, or Auth0
  • Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills with the ability to independently investigate and resolve technical issues

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Prior experience working in a manufacturing or automotive environment
  • Experience building consumer-facing applications
  • Familiarity with containerized applications and modern deployment practices

Pay Transparency

This is a full-time, exempt position eligible to receive a base salary and to participate in an annual performance bonus program. Final salary offered will be determined based on factors including but not limited to the candidate's skills and experience. The annual performance bonus program is preset and not candidate dependent.

 

Initial base salary range = $110,000.00 - $135,000.00

Initial California base salary range= $121,000 - $148,500

Internal leveling code: IC10
